"Information Stations" - at Pathways Mobile Market

Mobile Market Guy   The weekly Mobile Markets at Pathways have provided a great opportunity for Pathways families to access more than food over the past few months. Through several "information stations" set up in our multi-purpose community room, families have seen  information from Wellspring's Nurturing program, the League of Women Voters, Second Step, Cape Ann Timebank, the Migrant Program, and WIC.
Best of all, up to 70 families with children enrolled at Pathways have been able to count on fresh produce and food staples to supplement their weekly meals. One mother remarked that she had been able to "add lunch back in" to her family's daily meal plan. We are very grateful to Julie LaFontaine and the crew from The Open Door for making this program possible for Pathways families throughout the winter of 2008-2009!

It does "take a community!"

Annual Appeal
A community's children are its greatest resource, and thanks to Pathways, hundreds of children from Gloucester, Rockport, and Ipswich continue to have a safe, nurturing place to be while their parents are working, each and every day. The staff and teachers are committed to continuing to provide the children in our care the very best out-of-school experience possible, but we can't do it without the help of our volunteers and supporters.
Please take a moment to find out more about an organization in your own community that serves more than 400 children every day by visiting us, call 978-281-2400 x154 to schedule a tour, and when you receive an appeal in the mail in the coming weeks, please respond as generously as you are able. Thank you!

Donate Your IRA to Pathways

Included in the recently passed "bailout" legislation from Congress was the reinstatement of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 allowing individual retirement account (IRA) owners 70 1/2 years or older to directly transfer tax-free, up to $100,000 per year directly to Pathways. Please contact your financial advisor to see if this would benefit you.

Weekly "Mobile Market" at Pathways
Bald Eagle gliding above the water
Thanks to a grant through The Open Door Food Pantry, Pathways families have been able to access a wonderful array of fresh produce weekly at Pathways since July.

The grant was scheduled to end with all the 'fixins for a Thanksgiving dinner in November, but we have just learned that it will continue through the winter. See full article below.

Family Fun Day!
Girls at Fun Day
Thanks to the generosity of the Gloucester Female Charitable Association, we were able to provide two Free Family Saturdays in 2008 with lunch, art projects, a theatre production about healthy eating, and a warm, safe place to play. More than 150 children and their families were on hand to enjoy each event.

Annual Coat Drive!
Coat Drive
It's that time of year again and our Annual Coat Drive is in full swing. New or gently used children's coats are needed before the cold weather is here. To help.
