Pathways Wins Community Impact Grant for School Age Program
Pathways was awarded a $30,000 grant that will benefit the entire after school program of nearly 120 children throughout the school year, summer, and beyond. The Community Impact Grant program, which grew from a survey conducted by the North Shore United Way three years ago to assess the needs of the communities it served, is the third of its kind awarded. Pathways will use the grant to address the issues of childhood obesity with the implementation of "Movin' It," a curriculum-enhancing initiative that will include staff training, the purchase of curriculum and program equipment, and the measurement of outcomes. "This is an investment that will reap rewards for promoting health for Cape Ann's children and families well into the future," said North Shore United Way President Margo Casey in awarding the grant.
Pathways Celebrates!
On Saturday, October 20th, Pathways for Children celebrated their 40th Birthday with a bang!  More than 200 children and their families attended the event which featured special guests,The Wheelmen, who brought many different styles of antique bicycles to share with the children, and Musician Extraordinaire, Kitt Cox who led the children in sing-a-longs.  Scooby Doo visited as well and the children were able to take home a keepsake photo with this furry friend.  There was face-painting, mask and cookie decorating and birthday cake.  It was a great opportunity to see some old faces and visit with families whose children are currently attending Pathways.  Be sure to visit our website for more pictures of the celebration.
Board Notes:
