Don't Miss Ed Emberley at Barnes & Noble!
A last reminder to help support Pathways and get all of your holiday book and record shopping done at the Pathways  Book Fair at Barnes & Noble bookstore this Saturday, November 24, at the Barnes & Noble Peabody store (behind North Shore Shopping Center). Bring your children to meet Ed who will be at the store between 1 and 4 PM.

Your purchase of books, puzzles, music, and anything else at the Barnes & Noble store on November 24th will help PATHWAYS EARN UP TO 15% OF THE SALES!!! Here are the rules: Between the hours of noon and 5, you may just mention Pathways, but the rest of the day you will need this special voucher which you can print out or call the development office at 978-281-2400 x154. Pathways staff and volunteers will also be at the store with vouchers during the Book signing. Thank you for helping us make this a special fundraiser for Pathways.
"You Can Impact the Rest of a Child's Life..."
Be on the lookout for the Pathways Annual Appeal, arriving in the mail soon - our yearly letter to our friends and supporters. This year we remind you that over the year donations have supported the purchase of books, diapers, backpacks, staff training, software, science projects, and much more. Please respond as generously as you are able and help us make a difference in a child's life again this year! If you prefer to make your donation online, go to our website www.pw4c.org, and look for the blue button at the top of the page, "Donate Now."
Pirates at Pathways!
Once again, pirates were spotted at Pathways in room #2 as Lisa Simoneau's after school class celebrated their month-long focus on everything "pirate" with a banquet of baked chicken, pirate's teeth (corn) and seaweed (green linguine). Lisa is just one of Pathways' creative and dedicated teachers who go above and beyond to provide their classroom's with an extra measure of fun. She is particularly excited about the opportunities that the new grants for the School Age Care program will provide for the children in her classroom -the oldest ones attending a Pathways program at 10-13 - as it is the most difficult group to keep engaged with afterschool activities. Grants such as the one received recently from North Shore United Way will provide equipment for physical activities in and outside of the classroom.
Staff Notes:
Pathways President and CEO Sue Todd will be sworn in as Chair of the Children's League of Massachusetts at their annual meeting on November 26. She will serve a term of 2 years. Sue has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the CLM for many years and has been a member of the organization since 1987. The Children's League is a state-wide membership organization of 60-plus organizations that provide, purchase, regulate, and advocate for quality resources for the children, youth, and families of the Commonwealth. The League is one of the most influential voices for children and families on Beacon Hill, and has been successful in advocating for essential services for children and families in the Commonwealth.

COO Caroline Haines has been selected to participate in a training of trainers called "Making Room in the Circle," a program that supports childcare centers to become more welcoming to nontraditional families.
